All walls must crumble; all that was important must be plucked, picked apart, sieved and pressed into uniform goop. Down with General Axiology itself! Down with all structural assumptions that have survived through the dexterity of their own luck.

An exception: the metamethodology. Theory was long defined as the metamethodology naturally paired with genericity — that white horse we’re now accepting will never come. It was said: theory is the theory of the theory of the theory of the theory… of the theory of generic structure. But that translated, infected, made seep through the reality of theory towards the virtuality of “generic structure”. It set up theory in the germinal line of genericity rather than the other way around.

This is already a structuring claim amidst the Dresden-like bombing campaign currently levelling the edifice of theory. Yet it’s modest despite its sweep and import: it defined a germinal spill rather than an infrastructure asset: preserving the metamethodology redefines theory to be the theory of the theory of the theory of the theory of the theory of… that on which the germen spills.
